    I don’t disagree with the crux of the article, but I would like to correct some figures. Of the $1.42 billion in revenue generated by Nova Scotian gambling, over $1 billion was paid out in “wins”. The revenue to the province was actually $141.6 million, with $6.6 million reinvested into preventative and treatment programs. Please see the 2010-11 Annual Report of the Gaming Corporation for details. The real troubling issue is not how much revenue is generated, but where this revenue comes from. Nearly 40% of revenue is obtained from gamblers deemed at risk of developing problem gambling. See the 2007 NS Gambling Prevalence Study for details. I don’t disagree with the article – but let’s present well-researched facts, no?
