Why Healthpartners is our Charity of Choice

Why Healthpartners is our Charity of Choice

“He who has health, has hope; and he who has hope, has everything

Thomas Carlyle

I have worked in the health field for many years, starting in the early 80’s in the Health Services and Promotion Branch of what was then Health and Welfare Canada. During my time at Health Canada I worked on a number of health related issues and also had the opportunity to work with many health organizations. Since my retirement from the public service, I continue to work with health organizations across Canada and internationally as a consultant and educator.

I have always been impressed with the dedication of health charities whose ultimate goal is to build a better quality of life for all those who suffer from chronic illnesses or serious diseases.

In my personal life I have seen people touched by illness, disability, and disease. I lost an older brother at a relatively young age to cancer, and like many of you have seen family, relatives, friends, neighbours and colleagues succumb to one disease or another.

Why am I telling you this? Our organization, the Centre of Excellence for Public Sector Marketing has recently made a decision to actively work with and support Healthpartners/Partenairesanté. They have become our charity of choice.

For those who are not familiar with Healthpartners/Partenairesanté they are the coordinating organization of sixteen of Canada’s most trusted health charities.  All members share a common goal:  to support life saving medical research and health programs in the community that improve the health and quality of life of Canadians.

Employees of the Federal Government through the “Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign” (GCWCC) have raised more than $80 million (13.8 Million in 2011) through payroll donations to support fellow Canadians dealing with serious health issues. Because of this extraordinary support, Healthpartners/Partenairesanté members are working hard to build a better quality of life for those facing a critical illness and their families

They raise funds exclusively through work place charitable giving programs. In addition, they provide donors with the choice to direct their gifts towards improving the health of Canadians, through payroll deductions or cash donations. Donors who give to Healthpartners/Partenairesanté can choose to direct their money to the health charities of their choice.

Healthpartners/Partenairesanté help support medical research towards improved treatment — and ultimately a cure — for debilitating diseases; and, support education and prevention efforts, and services that assist Canadians living with disease. Your donation finds cures, builds awareness and supports families facing MS, MD, Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, ALS, Alzheimers, Huntington’s, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Parkinson’s, Arthritis, Kidney disease and many more.

All of us benefit from life-saving medical research and support programs to help patients and their families. That’s why CEPSM is supporting Healthpartners/Partenairesanté

Thanks
